loveseat tapes was founded in august 2018 by kelly bowman and daniel britto watkins of no momentum with the intention of handling their band's distribution. loveseat soon began offering the creation of tapes to friends and others who were overlooked by the music scene at large.
dan amicably left loveseat in autumn 2018 and kelly briefly ran operations alone until enlisting help in robin schnepf.
kelly and robin ran loveseat into the early months of 2020, amassing 20+ releases within a year and a half of existence, as well as numerous commissions done for record labels and artists outside of the loveseat umbrella.
in march 2020, loveseat tapes began a year long hiatus due to complications related to the outbreak of covid-19.
loveseat made its grand reopening in april 2021, now under the name loveseat art club. the name change was made to reflect their growing interest in branching out into not only distributing physical formats beyond cassettes, but also showcasing creative media beyond just music, all while seeking to maintain loveseat's established diy ethos and aesthetic.
